The depot's night report and one reimbursement

About 12 min · 3 questions ·

Thursday
The situation

The night of stops 03 to 07 as the backend reports it: one page per night for the depot, and once a month one statement per employee who charges a company car at home.

Both are composed in the form such reports take. The numbers are the ones the stops of this path used.

The questionWhich lines came from the chargers, which from the vehicles, and which does the payroll department need?

Guess firstThe report says 912 kWh were delivered, the plan said 900. Is that a problem?RevealHide

No. The plan is an average of 30 kWh per van; the night's spread, from 19.8 to 41.2 kWh, shows which routes were longer than 120 km. The figure to watch is the charging window: the last van was full at 12:34 AM, more than five hours before the first route.

What you are looking at

The night report joins three sources: the charge points (sessions, status and meter values over ), the vehicles ( from the battery data) and the plan (routes and departures). The reimbursement statement rests on a fourth: the meter in the employee's wallbox, whose readings the company backend collects, and on the German tax rules of stop 05. Select the lines to see where each one comes from.

Depot backend, Thursday 6:00 AMThe night report

Eleven lines for thirty vans. The order follows the questions a fleet manager asks first.

  1. Line 1One night, one page

The backend writes this report every morning from the night's sessions, status messages and meter values. The fleet manager reads it with the first coffee (stop 08).

A composed report with the figures of stops 03 to 07. AutoCharge, identification by the vehicle's MAC address, is one of the token types of OCPP 2.0.1. SuspendedEVSE is its charging state for a connected vehicle to which the charge point offers no energy.

Payroll, September 2026One home charging statement

Seven lines for one employee. The same statement exists for every company car charged at home.

  1. Line 1One employee, one month

The statement the payroll system produces from the wallbox data. The employee drives one of the twelve company cars of stop 01 and charges at home.

A composed statement following the German rules from 2026: a separate meter, the flat rate of 34 cents chosen for the calendar year, public charging reimbursed by receipt in addition. The public sessions arrive as charge detail records with the car's token.

Which line comes from where

  • From the chargers. Sessions, energy, the peak, the charging window and the identification: everything OCPP reports, summed by the backend.
  • From the vehicles. The readiness check. State of charge is the vehicle's number; the charger only knows what it delivered (stop 07).
  • From the plan. The target state of charge per van and the note on next year's capacity.
  • From the wallbox at home. The measured kilowatt-hours of the reimbursement, session by session, through the company backend.
  • From the provider. The three public sessions, each a with the car's .

What the payroll department needs

Three things, and the statement carries all of them: proof of the energy from a separate meter, the method chosen for the year, and the receipts for public charging. With those, the reimbursement is a tax-free expense for a company car; without a meter it would be an estimate, and for a private car it would be wages. The depot report, by contrast, goes to operations: its one number for the finance side is the energy cost per night, which Business models, stop 06 puts in context.

3 questions. Answer all of them to complete this stop. Each answer explains itself.

01Question 1 of 3

The readiness check says van 09 is at 88%. Where did that number come from?

02Question 2 of 3

What makes the 212.4 kWh at home reimbursable free of tax under the German rules?

03Question 3 of 3

The peak was 118 kW against a 120 kW limit. Why does that not mean the depot is full?
