Plug & Charge · Stop 03What is a contract certificate? The contract certificate and its ID, the charger's own certificate, and the root certificates both trust: the three kinds of certificate in one Plug & Charge session.

A contract certificate binds a contract ID, the eMAID, to a key that only the car holds. When the car presents it, the charger or its backend can check two things: that the certificate was issued within a trusted chain, and that it is still valid.
