Truck charging · Stop 03How does depot charging work?Eleven hours of rest, hundreds of kilowatt-hours, and a grid connection for many trucks at once: how trucks charge overnight at the depot and at parking areas.

A long-haul driver may spend the daily rest far from the depot. AFIR asks Member States to ensure at least two public recharging stations for heavy vehicles of at least 100 kW in every safe and secure parking area by the end of 2027, and four by the end of 2030. Overnight, 100 kW for ten hours would be 1,000 kWh, more than this truck's 621 kWh battery holds.
